The company has invested about Rs 100 crores in the new facility that will be the hub for its global expansion over the next 2-3 years.

The US-based smart home and building automation company Hogar Controls has announced the opening of its first “state-of-the-art” manufacturing facility and R&D centre in Hyderabad. Hogar has set up its wholly-owned Indian subsidiary Hogar India Pvt Ltd, through which it will both manufacture and market its products in the growing domestic market for home and building automation, the company said.

With an investment of close to 100 crore, the new 10,000-sft manufacturing and R&D unit is fully-automated with world-class electronic manufacturing equipment and an annual production capacity of more than 6,00,000 units. All 11 products launched and available under Hogar’s home automation series including Smart, Touch, Enviro and Security will be manufactured at the facility, which will serve as a hub for Hogar’s growth and expansion across India as well as other Asia, the US, Europe and Australia markets over the next three years.

Located in Hyderabad’s technology and manufacturing hub, the Industrial Development Area at Uppal, the new facility will strengthen Hogar’s global expansion strategy, enabling the company to serve the growing Indian market better as well as provide cost competitive and cutting-edge automation products to Hogar’s customers across the globe.

Vishnu Reddy, CEO, Hogar Controls, said, “The gradual growth and acceptance of technology, new product designs, and availability of uninterrupted Internet and power services presents a huge opportunity for IoT and automated products in the country, thereby significantly benefitting the consumers. However, we believe that India is still underserved when it comes to products that offer the cutting-edge technology, combined with ease of use and cost competitive pricing. Today’s announcement reiterates Hogar’s long-term commitment to the Indian marketplace and our commitment to support our customers with innovative technology and advanced manufacturing solutions in our key markets around the world. With the additional investments in manufacturing and R&D, we are looking to clock revenues of over 30 crores in 2020.”

Karan Kumar, co-founder & chief technology officer, Hogar Controls, said, “At Hogar, everything we do is based on our core ‘Smart Life’ philosophy, that focuses on providing simple technology and aesthetic designs in the hands of people, on making their daily lives easier. We have significantly invested in our R&D and product development efforts in the first few years of our operations to ensure our technology and products address current gaps in the automation market. As a result, all our 11 products launched until now are easy for consumers to plug-n-play or retrofit into their homes. We are the only brand in the space to offer products that are compatible with all three leading Z-wave, Zigbee, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and we offer both wired and wireless solutions. Our R&D unit set up in Hyderabad will continue to focus on new product development in the IoT segment besides constant upgradation of technology to existing products.”

Earlier this month, Hogar Controls launched PRIMA +, also known as Master Room Control, its latest offering from its Touch Series Range in the India market. The glossy touch panel features six touch switches for multi-functional requirements and is additionally equipped with a light dimmer, a fan speed controller and a motion sensor. Its retrofit design makes the Prima+ fit into existing switchboard without the need for additional wiring.
