Anil Rai Gupta, chairman & managing director of homegrown fast moving electrical goods major Havells India Ltd, has been conferred an honorary doctorate by Wake Forest University in North Carolina, USA, in recognition of his outstanding achievements and entrepreneurial success, the company has informed in a press note.
The honorary doctorate was bestowed upon him by Dr Nathan O Hatch, president of Wake Forest University at the university campus on May 15.
A day earlier, Gupta was also invited as keynote speaker for the Wake Forest Graduate Business Hooding Ceremony.
Accepting the doctorate, Gupta said, “I am deeply moved to receive this honour which has been entrusted to me by my alma mater. It is indeed a special feeling which cannot be described in words. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Prof Ram Baliga, Prof Chuck Kennedy and Prof Rick Haris, along with the entire faculty of batch ’92 which has mentored and nurtured me.”
