Wipro Lighting on Friday launched its Internet of Lighting (IoL) solutions for smart and the connected indoor-outdoor lighting applications. With the emergence of IoT (The Internet of Things) and Big Data, the company said that smart and the connected digital lighting-based solutions are the “way forward” to bring intelligence and functionality into lighting systems for enhancing user experience and deliver “desired” outcomes for customers.

The Internet of Lighting (IoL) is our first step in that direction in offering our customers best of breed solutions in lighting and beyond,” said Anuj Dhir, VP & business head for Wipro commercial lighting business at the launch. “It has been an incredible journey for Wipro Lighting over the last 25 years. As a leader in lighting solutions, we have always made sure that we provide our customers with the gold standard in lighting innovation.”

Dhir stressed that the company’s alliances with global tech giants will usher a new revolution in work-lives. It has collaboration with Cisco for Power on Ethernet (PoE) based lighting solutions and Human Centric Lighting solutions for new age work spaces to boost productivity and enhance employee well being. Also, the company has partnership with pureLiFi, the Scotland-based startup that pioneered Li-Fi technology under Prof Harald Haas, for the tech adoption in Asia. Li-Fi transmits the Internet data more securely and safely at speeds faster than Wi-Fi .
Armed with smart and the connected outdoor lighting solutions, he asserted that the company is ready to provide complete lighting infrastructure for the upcoming smart cities.
