Battery behemoth Eveready Industries India Ltd (EIIL) has forayed into the air purifier segment. The Kolkata-headquartered company has launched two models in the category under ‘Eveready Appliances’ brand. Both models are equipped with 7 and 6-stage purifications, built-in humidifier, activated carbon and HEPA filters, and UV sterilisation.
“The air purifier market in India is at a nascent stage and we believe this category will be critical in providing cleaner air indoors. We plan to target 5-10% market by making the product more affordable and accessible to the larger consumer market,” says the company’s MD Amritanshu Khaitan.
According to Khaitan, EIIL has established 133 authorised service centres across the country. The company also has a call centre to service and register customer complaints. The air purifiers, he adds, will be available at online and modern retail platforms, as well as brick-and-mortar outlets.
The domestic air purifier market is estimated to be of Rs 120 crore, which is expected to grow at around 30-35% per annum over the next 3-4 years.
