The power PSUs-promoted Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) is intervening in the lighting, fan, and pump segments to unlock the estimated Rs 74,000 crore investment potential that exists in EE and conservation. Real Estate to Clock $180 Bn by 2020

Energy-efficient BLDC Motor Launched by ROHM Semiconductor

ROHM Semiconductor, the Indian arm of Japan-based ROHM Group, has launched its ‘Made in India’ BLDC (brushless DC) motors, which it claims can halve power consumption of home appliances and industrial equipment. These solutions, compared to the less expensive AC Induction motor, are easy to control and around 50% more efficient, thereby reducing power consumption, according to the company’s managing director Daisuke Nakamura.

Fuji Electric Signs JV with Indian Gemco Controls

The Japanese partner will hold a 51% stake in the newly-formed entity Fuji Gemco Pvt Ltd (FGPL), to expand business operations in the country.

Light India, Electrical Building Technology to Bring ‘Over 250’ Companies

The inaugural unified edition of the international lighting fair Light India and Electrical Building Technology India, which will be held from October 5-7 in New Delhi, is reportedly over 90% booked and is expected to bring over 250 companies to showcase solutions for smart cities, say the organisers.

Organised jointly by Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt Ltd and Electric Lamp & Component Manufacturers’ Association of India (ELCOMA), the show will display advanced materials for lighting applications, mood and ambient lighting for hospitality and retail, complete home lighting controls and automation for smart buildings, and solar street lighting.
The three-day exhibition will demonstrate technical innovations, enable knowledge sharing, as well as provide a lowdown on market developments through planned fringe programmes. This includes a lighting conference on October 6, and a series of workshops with international associations. Also, a Council of Architects Conference is being planned, the organisers inform.

Lapp Launches Single Core Cable OLFLEX HEAT 650

Lapp India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of German cable and connection technology major Lapp Group, has introduced a single core cable OLFLEXHEAT 650 that can withstand ambient temperatures up to +650°C for heavy industries. The product can also be used in heating modules, electric heating devices, heat lockers, furnaces, electric ranges, ceramic processing and chemical industries.

India is now the fastest growing e-commerce market, speeding at an annual rate of 51%, the latest ASSOCHAM-Forrester study paper says.

AMTL Enters Turnkey EPC Business

Advance Metering Technology Ltd (AMTL) has forayed into the turnkey EPC business segment and has been awarded work order for a multi-storey green building in Noida. As part of the contract, it will be responsible for implementing the entire package for the project which will include civil and electrical works, designing, engineering, water treatment, waste disposal, and Solar PV. The work on the building has already begun and will be completed in six to eight months, the company has said. The Noida-based company manufacturers energy and panel meters, APFC panels, and provides EPC services.

Philips Opens Light Lounge in Agartala

A Light Lounge has been inaugurated by Philips Lighting India in Agartala, Tripura with the aim of strengthening its footprint in the north eastern region. Located at 80, HG Basak Road, the 350sft lounge is the company’s first exclusive outlet in the city and 18th branded store in the eastern region. The Light Lounge will showcase the company’s elaborate range of products and solutions for home decoration. With this launch, the company now has more than 170 light lounges in addition to light studios in the country.

MD-SIG Launches Specifications for Interoperable LED Drivers & Modules

A consortium of global LED driver manufacturers has published two new specifications to make it easier to match LED modules with configurable LED drivers. In June this year the consortium set up Module-Driver Interface Special Interest Group (MD-SIG) for coming up with standards for drivers. Accordingly MD-SIG has published LEDset, which provides a standardised multi-vendor electrical interface for LED systems that simplifies the process of matching LED modules with suitable drivers.

Havells Unveils Advanced Adonia Water Heaters

Homegrown electrical MNC Havells India Ltd has introduced an advanced range of water heaters under its Adonia series that uses colour changing LED technology to communicate changing temperature levels. “These are the world’s most advanced range of water heaters designed in India and manufactured at our Neemrana, Rajasthan plant set up last year,” said the company’s executive vice president Saurabh Goel. “The water heaters come with a patented temperature sensitive LED that changes its colour from blue to amber as the water heats from normal to a maximum of 75 degrees. Unlike conventional geysers with only red and green colours, these will allow consumers to choose just the ‘right’ temperature as per their comfort for utilising water. This feature will also protect users against sudden exposure to water at very high temperature. It also comes with a digital temperature indicator and feather touch controls, which provide ease of use and takes customer’s experience to a different level.”

ISLE to Organise Smart Lighting Conference in Bengaluru

The Indian Society of Lighting Engineers’ (ISLE) Karnataka State Centre is organising an international conference and exhibition on Smart Lighting in November 4-6 at NIMHANS Convention Centre in Bengaluru. “Today, the prime development topic starts with Digital India and Smart Cities. Smart Lighting is a precursor to this initiative for energy efficiency and sustainable development using advanced technologies at lower costs,” says chairman of ISLE’s Karnataka State Centre Swamy M S N.

Mild Growth

The country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth for the first quarter of 2016 was recorded at 7.9% compared to 7.2% in the previous quarter, led by strong growth in agriculture, and improvements in consumption. India’s corporate earnings also improved in the quarter, as a result of lower raw material prices and higher consumption.
