World’s Largest Streetlight Replacement Programne Launched in Delhi

January 20, 2017: Union Minister of Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines, Piyush Goyal has unveiled the world’s largest streetlight replacement programne in the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) area. The LED-based Street Lighting National Programme (SNLP), currently running in the area, replaces two lakh streetlights to save 2.65 crore kWh cumulative annual energy, avoiding a capacity addition of 6.6 MW and reducing 22,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases daily.

Luminous Unveils Wall-mounted Power Backup

January 20, 2017: Luminous Power Technologies Pvt Ltd has launched a wall-mounted power back-up system ‘Regalia’. The product uses latest in-built lithium ion battery technology with a battery life spanning 10 years. It has the option to be charged with regular mains supply or through solar panels by harnessing abundant solar energy. The system is equipped with fast charging technology that charges the battery completely in two to three hours. It enables users to stay connected using Wi-Fi to access information and diagnostics via their smartphones. Also, it eliminates the risk of accidental contact by doing away with wires and terminals, and includes an in-built safety mechanism to protect appliances from voltage surges and short circuits.

LED Expo Gets Stronger, Sharper

The 15th edition of LED Expo, held during 2-4 December, emerged as an ideal sourcing platform for LED lighting components and technologies for private and public players. It drew 10,397 decision makers from real estate, industrial houses, retail, and automotive sectors as well as senior bureaucrats of the Union Government and public sector enterprises. The government has said that energy efficiency measures taken during 2015-16 by various private and public sector organisations have saved 7,378 million electricity units equivalent to the energy generated from a 1,352 MW thermal power plant, saving Rs 4,866 crore for the country. These organisations participated in the 2016 National Energy Conservation Awards that recognise effective energy-efficient technologies and practices.

Usha International’s premium home decorative lighting brand Tisva has inaugurated its flagship studio in New Delhi. Spread over 2,500sft on two floors, the lighting studio is located in the city’s Ghitorni area, a shopping hub of interior designers and architects.

The Tisva lighting studio has a customised experience zone which showcases automated lighting concepts such as new age downlighters that work on Bluetooth technology and elyisian lights featuring Japanese technology that creates light in a choice of colour selection from warm white to cool daylight. The distinctive ambience created by this zone will help customers choose the best lighting narrative for their home. Additionally, consumers can also avail lighting consultancy services from experts at the studio, the company said in a press release.
